Computer Operator/Software Applications
This course provides an introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students will learn the fundamentals of each program. This course covers only an introduction to the Microsoft Office Suite.
Prerequisites: Type 35 wpm (typing test is given on the first day of class) and proof of Computer Operator/Literacy class completion or passing of literacy challenge test.
Computer Operator/Integrated Applications
This course is taught step-by-step with the use of daily lectures. It provides the essential skills needed for any office setting and/or for personal use. The following topics are covered:
• In WORD - Mail Merge and Macros.
• In EXCEL - customizing spreadsheets and charts.
• In POWERPOINT - creating presentations with hyperlinks, action buttons, sounds, animation effects and creating photo albums.
• In ACCESS - creating databases, queries, forms and reports.
• In OUTLOOK - setting up contact lists, calendars, and tasks.
In addition, you will learn how to trouble shoot common problems within the Microsoft Office Suite during the process of linking and embedding files. The Internet will be used to E-Mail, download and upload files. (Advanced students can prepare to take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Test.)
Prerequisites: Type 40 wpm (typing test is given on the first day of class); proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and proof of passing of Software Applications class or challenge test.
